Mac Baren Tobacco Company is Denmark's largest family-owned tobacco company

Since 1887, when Harald Halberg acquired S. Bønneluckes Tobaksfabrik, the company has been owned by the Halberg family. Initially under the name Harald Halberg Cigar- og Tobaksfabrik, later simply Harald Halberg Tobaksfabrikker, and since 1995 under the name Mac Baren Tobacco Company.

Mac Baren Tobacco Company is still wholly owned by the Halberg family. Today ownership has passed from Jørgen Halberg, the original creator of Mac Baren tobaccos, to his three children Henrik Halberg, Lisbeth Halberg and Ole Halberg.
